Posting and Commenting
Writing a post
Section titled “Writing a post”Click Start a post at the top of the feed. The composer opens with the cursor already in the text box. Type what you want to share and click Post.
While you’re writing:
- Use the formatting toolbar for bold, italic, strikethrough, bulleted and numbered lists, and block quotes.
- Add up to 4 images with the photo button in the bottom-left corner (JPEG, PNG, or WebP, 10 MB each). Click the × on a thumbnail to drop one before you post.
- Posts hold 5,000 characters. A counter appears as you approach the limit.
The line under your name tells you who will see the post. By default that’s Visible to current residents.
Choosing an audience
Section titled “Choosing an audience”Owners and Admins only.
If your community has contact groups, that line under your name is a dropdown. Leave it on Current residents to reach everyone, or pick one or more groups to limit the post to their members. The groups you chose show as tags on the post, so it’s clear who it went to.
Pick carefully: the audience is fixed when you create the post. To change it, delete the post and write it again.
Posting on behalf of the association
Section titled “Posting on behalf of the association”Owners, Admins, and Board Members only.
When the post is the association speaking rather than you personally, click your avatar at the top-left of the composer and choose your association’s name. The post is labelled on behalf of [your association] in the feed.
You’re still named as the author, so this adds the association’s name rather than hiding yours. Like the audience, it’s fixed when you create the post.
Mentioning people
Section titled “Mentioning people”Type @ followed by a name, then pick someone from the list. Their name becomes a link in the post and they get a notification.
Only people who can already see the post are suggested, so you can’t accidentally pull someone into a conversation they don’t have access to.
Owners, Admins, and Board Members can also mention @everyone, which notifies every resident who can see the post. Anyone else who tries gets an error.
Editing and deleting
Section titled “Editing and deleting”Use the ⋯ menu in the top-right corner of a post, or the Edit and Delete links under a comment.
You have one hour to edit your own post or comment. After that the Edit option is gone, so correct anything later by adding a comment or by deleting and reposting. An edited post carries a small “Edited” marker next to its timestamp.
Deleting a post takes its comments and reactions with it, and can’t be undone.
Administrators can delete a post but never edit one. When content is a problem, they remove it from view with a reason instead.
Comments
Section titled “Comments”Type in the Write a comment… box under any post. Comments hold 1,000 characters and take the same formatting and mentions as posts.
The three most recent comments are shown; click View N earlier comments for the rest. A post’s own page, which is where notification and digest links take you, always shows the whole thread.
Reactions
Section titled “Reactions”Click the smiley button under a post or comment, then pick an emoji. Browse by category, or grab one from the quick row at the top, which leads with whatever you used last.
Reactions collect into count pills. Click a pill to add yours to it, and click again to take it back.
Finding your way around the feed
Section titled “Finding your way around the feed”Posts run newest first, with pinned posts held at the top. A pinned post carries a coloured bar and a Pinned badge.
The small toolbar next to the greeting gives you two controls:
- Search — click the magnifier and type. It covers the text of posts and their comments, and only returns posts you can already see.
- View density — switch between the standard view (full posts, full-width photos, comments in line) and the compact view (three lines with a Show more link). Your choice sticks on that browser.
When something won’t post
Section titled “When something won’t post”- “This wording isn’t permitted here. Please rephrase and try again.” — your association has the profanity filter on. Reword and try again.
- A limit message — caps keep runaway posting in check: 5 posts an hour, 20 comments an hour, 60 reactions an hour. They apply to everyone, admins included. Wait a while and try again.
- “You can’t post right now” — your participation has been paused. See what a suspension does.
