Moderating the Feed

Applies to:All roles

Anyone who can see the feed can flag something. Owners and Admins decide what happens next.

Anyone who can see the feed.

Open the ⋯ menu on a post, or the Report link under a comment, and choose Report. Pick a reason:

  • Harassment or bullying
  • Spam or advertising
  • Off topic
  • False information
  • Something else

Add a note if there’s context the admins won’t have, then click Send report.

Your report goes to your association’s Owners and Admins. Board members don’t receive them, and the author is never told that a report exists or who filed it. You can report a given post or comment once, and up to five items a day.

Owners and Admins only.

Every report sends you a notification. Follow it to the post’s own page, where a Reports card sits above the post with everything outstanding: the reason, whether it was a post or a comment, the author and an excerpt of what was reported, the reporter’s note, and who filed it.

Then choose:

  • Dismiss — the content is fine. This clears every open report on that item, so one decision closes the review.
  • Remove — opens the removal dialog below.

The Moderate option on that page works the same way for anything in the thread, reported or not. It sits on the ⋯ menu of the post and of each comment. To get to a post’s page, follow the notification about it, a mention, or a link in the weekly digest.

Before you act, the removal dialog shows you who you’re dealing with:

  • their name, and how many of their items have been removed before
  • whether they’re currently suspended, and how many times they’ve been suspended in the past
  • a link straight to their contact record

Write a reason for removal, which is required, then confirm. The author is told their post or comment was removed and why, but never who reported it.

Removed content disappears for residents. You’ll still see it in the feed behind a red “Removed from the feed” banner naming who removed it and why, and the post’s own page gives you a Restore button to put it back.

Removal is the only editorial action available. You can delete a post, but you can never edit one.

Owners and Admins only.

Choose Pin on a post’s ⋯ menu to hold it at the top of everyone’s feed, marked with a coloured bar and a Pinned badge. Unpin from the same menu drops it back into date order. Useful for a meeting reminder or a pool closure you want people to see all week.

When removing content isn’t enough, use the same removal dialog to pause the person’s participation. Click Suspend from posting, choose 3, 7, 14, or 30 days, write a reason, and confirm. The reason is shown to them, so write something they can act on.

If they’re already suspended, that control reads Extend suspension, and Lift suspension next to it ends the pause immediately.

A suspension pauses everything the person can write, not just posting. Until it ends they can’t:

  • write posts or comments
  • react to anything
  • report content
  • edit or delete their own existing posts and comments

Reading carries on as normal, and their existing posts stay put. They see a red notice at the top of the feed with the end date and your reason, and get an email saying the same.

Suspensions apply to admins too. A suspended administrator is locked out like anyone else, and another admin has to lift it.

Owners and Admins only. HOA → Settings → Community tab.

On by default. Posts and comments containing offensive language are blocked as they’re submitted, and the person gets an inline message so they can rephrase. Nothing queues for review and nothing is silently altered.

Off by default. Switch it on and set the rule in a sentence:

Suspend after 3 removals in 30 days, for 7 days

Each number is editable. When someone’s removed-content count hits the threshold inside the window, they’re suspended for the stated period with a generated reason such as “3 items removed within 30 days”. They’re notified exactly as they would be for a manual suspension, and you can lift or extend it from the removal dialog.

Settings save as you change them.

Removals, restores, dismissals, pins, unpins, suspensions, and lifted suspensions are all recorded against the content or the contact, with who did it and when.
